Welcome, everyone! The 2016-17 academic year is a very important time for me as a photographer for a variety of reasons. Firstly, it marks my move from Nikon DSLRs to the compact Fujifilm X mirrorless system, as well as my wholehearted embrace of film photography as a viable medium for expression. Secondly, this year will be a kind of test for myself. A test to explore photography in a way that I never have before: carrying a camera with me at all times. By no means is this a 365-Day project; the middle of the summer would be an odd time to start, and I expect to fall into creative ruts on a regular basis. It is simply a personal choice to make sure this hobby sees the light of day, pun intended. Lastly, this year I am is to challenge my amateur writing, web design, and interviewing skills through this blog. I aim to post a couple of articles each month, organized into distinct series. Timeless Streets, and its non-street version Beyond the Streets, will be home to your standard photo essays and small, curated projects. The Negative will focus on the process of capturing, processing, and publishing images. Tools of the Trade will be a 100% gear talk for those suffering from G.A.S. (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). And lastly, the Inspiration series will be a recorded podcast where I interview fellow photographers, comment on the pros who inspire me, and ramble about what I want to shoot next. Total honesty, this is all very daunting to me, but I couln't think of a better time in my life to really dive into photography. To my viewers, readers, and listeners, I hope you are able to take something away from all this. Here's to the beginning of an exciting year, folks!
